Corporate Social Responsibility
Concentrix PH expands CSR efforts starting with first run for a cause
MANILA, Philippines - Leading business process outsourcing company Concentrix Philippines staged its first fun run around the Tiendesitas compound in Pasig City not just to engage its members in health and fitness, but also to strengthen its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.
The run was attended by more than 1,000 Concentrix staff based in Metro Manila participating in three categories (1K, 3K, and 5K). The runners gathered at the finish line for the awarding of prizes and the turnover of the event’s proceeds to the three CSR beneficiaries -- Hands On Manila, Childhope Philippines and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
Concentrix also staged simultaneous fun runs in its provincial sites in Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Cebu and Naga.
Almost 2,000 Concentrix staff attended the nationwide event, with snippets of each run aired on Facebook Live.
A run for a cause
The fun run kicked off Concentrix’s campaign to promote a healthy lifestyle, keeping its staff fit and always on the go. The run was not only an active way to get Concentrix staff together, but it was also for a good cause. Helping children, promoting education, and caring for our environment are the top advocacies of the chosen NGOs. These are the three pillars that Concentrix wants to support long-term.
Activities such as this make Concentrix agents more holistic individuals who are out to make a difference in whatever way they can.
Concentrix Backs Disabled Workers Facing Challenges
Bengaluru, INDIA – January 7, 2014 – People with disabilities have enough challenges without having to face unemployment, but Concentrix is backing them. With its worldwide network of job centers, the company is dedicated to diversity and goes beyond standard industry equal opportunity practices with a corporate philosophy of providing training and hiring programs for the physically disabled.
More than 785 million people of working age live with disabilities, according to the 2011 World Report on Disability, and Concentrix is dedicated to helping those who are able to work. The company’s success is based on the rich culture and diversity of its workforce. Nearly 10,000 employees in ten countries across the globe are delivering customer services in 33 languages.
In India, for example, where the corporation has more than 2,000 employees, Concentrix is concentrating on building diversity and inclusiveness in its several locations.
“Hiring and training of people with disabilities is a key focus area for us,” said Atul Mishra, general manager of business development and customer relationship management for Concentrix India.
Volunteers from Concentrix are working with the national Association of People with Disability (APD) which conducts two-month training programs to help differently-abled people become employable. The Concentrix customer service representative Learning and Development Team provides pre-employment training skills for ADP students.
“Our trainers felt motivated and thrilled to conduct these training sessions and they have volunteered for more training programs,” Mishra said. The education and training team covers everything from interviewing and communication skills to teamwork and business etiquette. Mishra said that students from APD also will visit Concentrix where a Microsoft Office training session is being organized.
The corporation’s efforts have been complimented by the country’s leading high-tech trade group. The global trade organization NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Service Companies) that promotes business and information technology (IT) development has championed the cause of diverse workplaces in India for years. That respected IT trade industry organization recognized the recent Concentrix training for the disabled.
“It’s inspiring to see the employees adopt volunteering as a way of life to contribute towards a positive social impact,” said Rita Soni, the CEO of the NASSCOM Foundation. Her organization spearheads several programs throughout the year to encourage the recognition that people with disabilities have been marginalized and to promote their inclusion in the job force.
“NASSCOM Foundation’s volunteering program has always received an encouraging response from the industry,” she said.
Last year the foundation sponsored a 10K marathon at Bengaluru on behalf of the disabled as part of its efforts to raise awareness and drive diversity. The country’s third largest city is a major economic center known as the “Silicon Valley of India” for its high-tech, biotechnology, film and IT leaders like Concentrix.
A team of young IT professionals from Concentrix put some muscle behind their support of the disabled by joining 220 runners in the race. “We have been working with the NASSCOM Foundation to promote an inclusive work culture,” said Gaurav Bhatia, country manager of Concentrix India. “Who would have missed out on an opportunity such as this, where we not only got to engage our employees, but also support a cause we believe in?”
