Teleperformance builds shelters, supports rural communities

Manila, Philippines—August 8, 2016 – Teleperformance, the world’s leading provider of outsourced customer experience management services, recently participated in the Bayani Challenge, Gawad Kalinga’s annual home-building project, held in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Dubbed as “Bayani Challenge 2016: Barangay Walang Iwanan,” this year’s event brought together employees from Teleperformance Cebu, Bacolod and Metro Manila in building houses, repairing schools and reaching out to a community in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

For five days, Teleperformance volunteers worked together in building the concrete foundation and framing of seven housing units and in painting ten classrooms in the community. Moreover, the volunteers also interacted with more than 200 children through a feeding activity organized by Teleperformance. The children were also given free notebooks, pencils and other school supplies in preparation for the new school year.

This is the fourth year that Teleperformance has taken part in the Bayani Challenge. This community-building initiative was conducted through the Citizen of the World, Teleperformance’s corporate social responsibility arm, to promote the spirit of volunteerism and teamwork among over 40,000 Teleperformance employees in the Philippines.

The 2016 Bayani Challenge is one of the many initiatives of Gawad Kalinga’s Barangay Walang Iwanan (translated in English as “no one gets left behind”), a nationwide effort to ignite the bayanihan spirit in more than 20,000 barangays in the Philippines. The initiative includes house building, health missions, sports programs, play therapies for kids, disaster preparedness activities, tree-planting and clean-up drives.
