Sitel Philippines Offers Opportunities to visually impaired scholars

At Sitel, we take education and empowerment very seriously,” said Craig Reines, Chief Operating Officer, Sitel Asia Pacific. “This year we want to expand the reach of our training and human development programs and provide career opportunities to groups that have limited access to education, such as persons with physical limitations. ATRIEV is the perfect partner for this. We fully support their advocacy of using technology and IT enabled programs to help the visually impaired become employable and productive.”

Through this partnership, the Sitel Academy Call Center Training Program, the first of its kind in the BPO industry, will be offered to ATRIEV scholars. Participants in this program can expect to gain basic contact center skills and afterwards, seek gainful employment in the BPO industry as contact center agents, virtual assistants, software analysts and more.

Sitel’s mission is for the BPO industry to be more inclusive and open to employing persons with disabilities. Craig adds, “Through this partnership with ATRIEV, we are creating a more diverse community and giving more opportunities for People with Disabilities.”


Free training and more

Sitel established Sitel Academy that provides free 30-day trainings to college students, recent graduates and to people who want to shift careers. It also gives 100 hours of re-training to the near-hires and brings its programs to far flung areas like Benguet to tap alternative potential market.


Sitel Academy Talent Development Program wins PMAP People Program of the Year Award

The People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) awarded Sitel Academy with the People Program of the Year Award in Talent Development – NCR Level. The award recognizes people programs that are pioneering, far-reaching, and exhibit corporate social responsibility for Filipinos in marginalized sectors in Metro Manila and the rural countryside.

Sitel Academy stood out for offering free contact center skills training to students, jobseekers, and even persons with disabilities in Metro Manila and in the countryside. The program provides participants with hybrid technical and communications courses, enhancing and expanding their customer care skills and creating unique job opportunities for the next generation of BPO professionals.

“We are deeply honored to be recognized for our commitment in providing an inclusive and learning-focused environment for our people while investing in the growing BPO industry in the Philippines,” stated Craig Reines, Sitel Chief Operating Officer APAC. “We strive to consistently improve the quality of people entering the contact center industry. We also noticed that Sitel Academy graduates tend to stay longer with the company, compared with those who did not go through the Academy. We view this as a good indicator of engagement and employee loyalty.”

Since 2012, Sitel Academy has graduated over 20,000 trainees across the country. The Academy has also partnered with 150 universities throughout the country and several government organizations such as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
