As the social development arm of Masinloc Power Partners Co., Ltd. and AES Philippines, we envision ourselves as the trusted partner in developing vibrant model communities effecting positive change and improving people’s lives by fulfilling our mission through knowledge-sharing and social development programs.
Corporate Social Responsibility Projects
We believe in supporting our electric cooperative customers in pursuing development in their local communities. With this in mind, we have created partnerships with our clients wherein AES Philippines provides financial support to complete the community programs and projects identified by the electric cooperatives.

Education Program
LITERACY PROJECT
“Bright Minds Read” is currently being implemented in the Masinloc North and South Districts. All 43 grade 1 teachers, 18 school heads and 2 District supervisors have attended the Teachers training to improve their teacher proficiency on reading. 1,500 Grade 1 students will be benefiting from this program. All schools will be receiving 33 big story books, designed and accredited by the Department of Education in partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities.
This Literacy project will address the lack of reading materials in public schools and will help the Masinloc North and South Districts of the Department of Education in achieving the goal of making “Every Child a reader”.
FEEDING PROGRAM

AES Philippines piloted this program in Taltal Elementary School in 2008 in partnership with the Department of Education – Masinloc North District, Division of Zambales. In 2010, the feeding program was scaled up to four times the initial number of school beneficiaries. It now benefits more than 300 malnourished or under-nourished students from the following host community schools:
Bani Relocation Elementary School, Masinloc, Zambales
Taltal Elementary School, Masinloc, Zambales
Bani Elementary School, Masinloc, Zamnbales
Taltal Elementary School, Candelaria, Zambales
The in-school feeding program aims to lessen the drop-out rate in Grades one to six by increasing their body mass and improving their stamina for daily schooling.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Scholarship Program aims to reach out to deserving children of indigent families from the Municipality of Masinloc, Zambales. It aims to enable them to pursue college degree courses as one of the means of improving their lives and their family’s standard of living. Currently, there are 12 AES Philippines Scholars who are enrolled in Ramon Magsaysay Technological University (RMTU).
BRIGADA ESKWELA
Brigada Eskwela (Schools Maintenance Week) is a nationwide voluntary effort that brings together parents, teachers, employee volunteers and other organizations to do minor repairs and clean-ups in schools prior to start of the school year. AES Philippines is supporting the Brigada Eskwela campaign in selected host public elementary schools in Masinloc.
Environment Program
COASTAL/RIVER CLEAN-UP

River and coastal clean-up campaigns are annual environment activities of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. AES Philippines regularly participates in this clean-up drive. In support of this program, the company mobilizes AES volunteers as well as other volunteers from partner organizations such as Philippine National Police, Local government units in cleaning-up the Tinatapi River in Barangay Sta. Rita and Oyon Bay in Masinloc Municipality.
COMMUNITY TREE-PLANTING

Carbon sequestration can be done through mangrove and upland tree planting. AES Philippines conducts regular mangrove and tree planting activities together with employee volunteers and other partner organizations. The company also donates seedlings to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources through its Central Regional and Provincial Offices.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO INTEGRATED COASTAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (ICRMP)
AES Philippines provides support to Integrated Coastal Resource Management Program through provision of technical expertise. The company provides assistance in water sample analysis and other laboratory procedures.
Health Program
MEDICAL AND DENTAL MISSION
Medical and Dental mission is conducted annually in our host barangays. To date, over 3000 members of the community has benefitted from the said program. This mission is implemented in partnership with the Rural Health Office of the Municipality of Masinloc and the Philippine Army, where they provide doctors, medical staff and volunteers.


SIGHT-SAVING PROGRAM
AES Philippines conducted the Sight Saving Program in selected public elementary and high schools in the Municipality of Masinloc. Close to 400 students benefitted from this program. School children found to have visual impairment have undergone cycloplegic refraction and were prescribed eye glasses sponsored by AES Philippines.
Livelihood Program
WELDING CENTER
AES Philippines is establishing the Masinloc Community-based Livelihood and Skills Training Center (“Welders Training Center”). This project is in partnership with the Municipality of Masinloc and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The Welders Training Center will be offering welding courses to the out-of-school youths and unemployed adult residents from Masinloc and Candelaria. Our goal is to increase human capital development in the area through skills enhancement.

- Completion of unfinished Multi-purpose hall to one barangay located within LUELCO franchise area.
- Construction materials for the PELCO I Evacuation Center.
- 2 Maharlika-type school buildings for two schools in the SAJELCO franchise area.
- Male/Female restrooms in two public schools within AURELCO franchise area.

To ensure that these standards are met, the following principles and guidelines have been communicated to all AES Philippines personnel and made available to the public as well as all interested parties:
- AES Philippines leadership is ultimately responsible for environmental, health and safety (EHS) performance. While proper day to day safe work practices are everyone’s responsibility, our leaders set EHS-related expectations, monitor EHS performance against these measures, and hold themselves and AES Philippines people and contractors accountable for meeting those expectations.
- AES Philippines leadership will provide the appropriate resources, human and material, to ensure that all our people have the means to work safely and its surrounding environment is protected. They will also ensure that the necessary engineering controls, personnel training, procedures and equipment are provided to mitigate EHS risk. AES Philippines people shall identify with, understand and comply with all EHS-related governmental regulations, and any other applicable EHS requirements including those required by AES policies, procedures and standards.
- AES Philippines people shall participate in and adhere to all EHS-related programs and requirements and take ownership in those programs by actively participating in them, including the obligation and right to stop work in case of any imminent danger to human health and the environment. Violators of the EHS program rules and requirements will not be tolerated and may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
- AES Philippines contractors shall adhere to the same EHS standards as the AES Philippines people. All AES Philippines Contract Administrators shall ensure that contractors working for AES Philippines comply with the appropriate EHS performance expectations and/or requirements, or take the appropriate actions if those expectations and requirements are not met.
- AES Philippines will continuously strive to improve the operation’s EHS performance. To accomplish this, it will put into place and implement an Integrated Environmental, Health and Safety Management System (IMS) that sets EHS goals, objectives and targets; commits to preventing injuries and ill-health; commits to optimize the use of natural resources; commits to preventing pollution; measures EHS performance; conducts regular EHS audits or assessments to review compliance with applicable EHS legal and company requirements; abides by the rules and actions set forth by the AES Philippines EHS Committee and make necessary IMS adjustments as needed, to achieve continual improvement.
- This EHS Policy is based on AES Philippines’ commitments to provide a safe workplace and clean environment; where all incidents/accidents can be prevented and that working safely in a pollution-free environment is a condition of employment. Adherence to these is mandatory for all of our people.
- AES Philippines has established this Environmental, Health and Safety Policy to inspire all our people to strive for, achieve and maintain a world-class EHS culture.
